Are You A Dumb Wrestler?

This powerful message from Ephesians 6 confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: many of us are fighting our battles the wrong way. We wrestle against flesh and blood—against difficult people, challenging circumstances, and material problems—when our real struggle is in the unseen spiritual realm. The passage walks us through Paul's culminating instruction to the Ephesian church: after teaching about unity, spiritual gifts, walking in love and light, and family relationships, he finally reveals how we actually accomplish all of this—by being strong in the Lord and putting on the full armor of God. This isn't optional equipment for the spiritually elite; it's essential gear for every believer. The loins girded with truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit—each piece protects a vulnerable area of our spiritual lives. The challenge here is deeply convicting: we cannot defeat spiritual enemies with physical weapons. Our tongue, our intellect, our anger, our retaliation—none of these accomplish what prayer, faith, and standing firm in God's Word can accomplish. When we finally understand that our battle is won or lost in the unseen realm, we stop wasting energy fighting the wrong war and start accessing the supernatural power available to every child of God.
